“One of five teachers will leave the profession in their first year. That number grows to three in five in the next five years.” (Farber, 2015, p.1)
This topic is widely talked about in our ever-growing early education sector in Singapore, however, despite the amount of controversy it has stirred in recent years, the turnover rate continues to increase.
We experienced first-hand how the teacher's welfare has been neglected and can empathise with them. Teachers are important as they shape and build the children's learning and development. They impart lifelong skills that will be essential in their growth and development as an adult.
